How it works

Register for this Matter

Registering gives you a password, so you can book a site visit and upload an Offer to Purchase. You only register once for a Matter, and it covers every Sale in it.

You need your email address, company name, your name and surname, a mobile number and a password.

You are signed in as soon as you register and a confirmation email follows. There is no link to click in it.

If you only want announcements, use Join the mailing list instead. That needs no account and no password.

You are already registered

If you register again with an address that is already registered, you will see You are already registered. Nothing is duplicated and no second email is sent.

Use Sign in instead. If you cannot remember the password, use Forgot password.

Sign in and sign out

Sign in with the email address you registered with and your password. A short message confirms Sign in Success, or Sign in Failed if the details do not match.

Signing in is needed for bookings and offers. Everything else on the site is open.

Sign out ends the session on this device. Your bookings and any uploaded offers are kept.

Forgot password

Choose Forgot password on the sign-in box. The sign-in box closes and a box opens asking for your email address.

Enter the address you registered with and choose Send reset link. That box closes and a message confirms the request.

The email holds a link that works for 20 minutes. If it has not arrived, check your Junk or Spam folder.

The reply is deliberately the same whether or not the address is registered, so nobody can use this to find out who has an account.

You may request up to five resets an hour for one address. After that no email is sent and the screen tells you so — wait an hour and try again.

Enter your email address to get updates about this Matter: new Sales, viewing dates and closing times.

No account, no password, and any device may join. It does not let you book or offer — register for that.

You can stop the updates at any time with Unsubscribe.

Book a site visit

Sign in, open Bookings and choose a day on the calendar. Only days with a viewing can be selected.

Download the forms for the time you want and complete them offline. Each person attending must complete them in full and include a copy of their ID document or passport.

Choose Continue with this time, say how many people are attending (up to ten), enter each person's name, ID or passport number and mobile number, and upload one completed PDF per person.

Submit the request. You get a booking reference and the request stays Pending until our team confirms or declines it. Both answers come by email.

Arrive an hour before the booked time. Uploads must be PDF files of up to 8 MB each.

Select a viewing time to see who is assigned to that booking, with their email address and mobile number where we have them.

Upload an Offer to Purchase

This is the sealed offer route, used for a Sale that invites offers rather than live bidding. It runs in four steps in the Offer Workspace, and you must be signed in.

1. Enter amounts. Tick each item you want and type a whole Rand amount above R0 for every item you ticked. Save. Saving keeps the offer incomplete — it does not submit anything.

2. Download. Take the Rules of Auction, the Offer to Purchase for that Sale, and Annexure A. Annexure A is generated for you and lists the items and amounts you entered; it still has to be completed and signed.

3. Sign. Complete and sign the documents offline.

4. Upload. Upload the signed Offer to Purchase and your proof of payment as PDF files, up to 8 MB each.

After a successful upload the offer is locked and cannot be changed online, and the prices for those items are locked for that Sale. You can still make an offer on other items in the same Sale.

A receipt email confirms the upload. Finish before the closing time shown on the countdown: part offers and late uploads are not processed.

The Offer Workspace locks itself after 30 minutes without activity. Sign in again to carry on where you left off.

Your documents and privacy

Everything you upload is stored privately, away from the public website. Only you and Matters staff can open your documents.

The forms and Rules we publish for a Sale are public. Your completed forms, your offer and your proof of payment are not.
